As I rode my bicycle back to my building at two in the morning, the wind battered me so hard that I almost fell off. Maybe I'm crazy, but I felt as though there was nothing behind me as I pedaled; as though the wind pulled everything into an almost tangible void in my wake. The terror at the thought of it made me move faster, and I did not check to see whether the world still existed behind my back. Looking out the window now, I'm not sure whether I imagined this, or if everything was destroyed and replaced with something that only looks the same to me. I suspect that the latter has always been true.
